Month by Month Comparison: Chapter 1
Yes, I'm still high over getting Fear as a serialization. I would almost say that I feel like a Mangaka, but since I'm not drawing, it's just plain old author. Authorka?
...Yeah that didn't work out too well, now did it?
Anyways, since I bet most of you might be curious, I'm going to be doing a monthly (since Fear is going to be a monthly serialization on Pariah) side by side comparison of each chapter and pointing out their differences. Again, you can read the first chapter that I wrote of Fear on Xanga. The Second Edition chapter is on Pariah Magazine. Anyways, where do I start?
- Probably the most obvious omission is the Prologue. After a few months of stewing over it, I think that the idea of the human-demon war, while important, would only be unnecessary filler, so I took it out. I would like to incorporate this war because it all started then, but chances are I would probably have to do a chapter or two on the war.
- I decided to ease my viewers into the action by describing the Country of Diruch, as opposed to automatic action immediately. Of course, it's hard to get people to read long sentences on the computer, so grabbing the reader's attention was my goal when I did this. Since I tried to write it in book form I could ease my readers in, before Fear shows up.
- I noticed I hardly provided much action with the Xanga story. Well...there's a lot more on Pariah. Again, trying to keep the reader interested while at the same time making sure it's not too long was my intention, so I felt it had to be that way. So naturally since I'm writing it in book form, it would be more fleshed out.
- When you get to write a book, the best part is coming up with the story. Then the next best part is figuring out the characters who inhabit the story. I had to limit the amount of characters for my Xanga story, but with the Pariah one, I can add almost as many characters as I want. Of course, they have to be important or at the very least, entertaining. So adding King Shane to my book/Pariah story was a welcome addition. Of course, the excuses, while sounding different, are essentially the same^^
- I think Commander Rando is a lot more heroic and somewhat unfazed in the Xanga story than the book one. Look at how he remarked over seeing Fear for the first time!...Of course, that might have been an oversight on my part^^
I guess the other differences are just additions and little tweaks that aren't too important. In the end, they both convey the same message: Fear's a bad...bad man! And he likes taking orbs, too!
