  • Chapter 13 Shade

     Bethumet couldn't be in a more dire situation right now, Shade thinks to himself: Fear just destroyed most of Aurol in a matter of minutes, he still can't find the figure that destroyed Nagrun Castle, and for a month he's gotten no word from Courage. To add to his misery, the war between Syria and Kenion still continued, as neither side has taken a clear advantage in the war, but from a moral and personnel standpoint, Syria's losses trump Kenion's twofold, as they not only continue to lose units, but they can't capture any forts or key positions on Kenion's side. They also have to survive this war without Three of Syria's Four Wings as Commander Thomas, Nichols, and Eisen were killed in battle, leaving only Jeannine as the only Wing left, and even with Shade's power, if they can't get a leg up in the war, then disaster would befall Bethumet forever. They'd continue to have late night discussions, but nothing would come out of it, and day by day Kenion gets stronger. Shade wondered if he would eventually have to use his sword....but he was stopped from doing that, at least for now.

     

    "Excuse me, sir, " Said one of the servants, " We have a couple of guests that want to see you. "

     

    "Not now, " Shade replied, " I'm quite busy at this moment. "

     

     "Master, stop lying. You're never busy!"

     

    "Courage?!?!" He turned around. Courage was there, in the flesh, although looking beat up a bit, and Shade, pretty ecstatic, hugged Courage like there would be no tomorrow.

     

    "NO...STOP.....YOU'RE...GOING TO...KILL ME..." Shade eventually stopped, then said,

     

    "What took you so long? While you was on vacation, I was about to jump in a pool of crap and blood!!!!"

    Courage then explained what had happened. "So, Fear beat you up pretty good, didn't he? Looks like you have a lot of work to do. "

     

    " I think I'm going to have to pass Takneo Shrine after all, Master. "

     

    "AHHH...so now after all these years you want to complete your full training? Well, nothing should stop you, so if need to go, then go. It was nice seeing you in tough times, I must say. " Then Courage told Shade that she has someone important that could help him.

     

    "I spoke with King Sorentine and Lady Jeannine, and we are supposed to meet in the war room in a few minutes. I'll explain everything there. " So after five minutes went by, they all met in the war room, and oddly enough, an unknown person was also in the room. Shade quizzed,

     

    "Who's that guy? He shouldn't belong here!" Courage then said,

     

    "He should be here. You'll find out soon, master. " Of course then Shade figured this was the important guy. After everyone was there, the meeting started and Courage explained that the guy she brought here was a doctor who nursed her back to health, and formerly worked under King Nemida, and retired shortly after he noticed something "odd" about the services there.

     

    "What??" Shade questioned, "What kind of odd things are going on in Kenion?!?" After 30 minutes or so, Shade then left the room with a smile that said, "Kenion....your deeds are over!!!!" And not surprisingly, he left towards a tavern to party...by himself....Courage however, left towards Takneo Shrine, to accomplish a greater goal....
