Chapter 5 Courage
Ten days ago Diruch met a tragic and bitter disaster that had innocents murdered and the Red Orb of Bethumet stolen...five days after that, an unknown mountain appeared near the now defunct Andrun forest, with some of the forest burned or withered. The air is full of strife instead of peace...and this is all because of that demon, Fear...I continued to think about this and what to do next as I began to walk towards the main hall of Nimma, or the Mayor of my home town Thgil, house. I also wondered how Shane, the mayor of Diruch who was escorted a few days to Thgil, would feel because I felt brutally and emotionally sad at his reaction towards what happened to his town. He was so miserable...it made me wish that I had done something about this....
I made it to the mayor's without much of a problem then was escorted to the main hall to discuss what to do about this situation. When I got to the room, I saw Shane, Nimna, a few of the guards and servants of Thgil, but behind the Mayor of Diruch was a fire-red haired person with a dark green long sleeve shirt under his light green shirt and blue pants. It didn't take me long to figure out who it was, or hide my joy.
"Shade?!?! Shade!!!! Master!!!!" I had no choice but to hug him like a little kid, I haven't seen him in ages! He obviously thought he should have seen better though,
"Courage stop, this is insane and inconceivable! Someone of your order should not resort to childish hugging!!" I stopped a bit then he said, "You have to hug harder, like this!!!"
"Gyaahhh!!" Ow, ow, that really hurt. I knew my master was out to get me and eventually he was going to show his true colors! "Well, I'm so glad to see you after that!" I said sarcastically. Anyways, Shade, while he's still in his 40s, was like a father to me as he found me thrown away and almost dead, and trained me for over 20 years, not knowing any of my past, my true parents, nothing, but his calmness and somewhat innocent kind of mind convinced me that I should listen to him and undertake his training. Anyways, after the 20 years were over, I headed back to my homeland Thgil and for ten years I have not seen Shade since he gave me one last good fight...and I lost in the end....but anyways, I wondered why he was here, and then I remembered what he told me before I left, " Wait...Shade, you said you'd never leave Takneo Shrine unless-"
"A huge problem that's pretty dicey would eventually happen. Sorry we had to meet like this, Courage. "
I quickly surmised what it was, and then was furious and miserable.
"It’s that demon, Fear, is it?!?!"
"Well....he's someone we have to keep an eye on right now, but that's not the problem." He revealed why he showed up to Thgil today: to inform us what's happening in the Western part of Bethumet. A few weeks ago he learned that Nagrun Castle, known for its impregnability and superior forces, was destroyed within hours by a long red haired figure that employed powers of the highest order, which left the region of Nagrun in tatters. “I wanted to know who this figure was, because it’s improbable that most of Bethumet's finest soldiers would be able to defeat Nagrun's forces and destroy its castle; but one person destroyed Nagrun? That's hard to believe, but that's what happened. But unfortunately, we seem to have a bigger problem..." Later in the day, Shade personally went to Syria to request help in the search for this figure, because Syria's known to have the best searchers in all of Bethumet. But instead of him asking them for help, it was the reverse: Syria asked him to request a few units and battle tactics as they prepared to head to war against Kenion.
"WHAT?!?!?!" was the reaction by Shane as he couldn't believe what Shade just said. "King Sorentine of Syria and King Nemida of Kenion have been friends since the beginning of time it feels like, yet now they're heading to war?!??! What happened?!?!" Shade could only say,
"...King Nemida's changed. I found this out while I saw a Kenion soldier running away near Syria's region. He told me personally that the King of Kenion is different than before, that he's more cunning, more ruthless and is quick to do whatever idea he thinks in his head."
“Then we must take action, "Nimna said, "Have you contacted Syria about this? Have they elaborated on what happened?"
“If you go with us to Syria in the morning, then you'll know why. For now, I think a night of rest is good for us all."
So after that we retired for the night, but I don't think I got a good rest at all as I thought in my mind the whirlwind of disasters popping up in my head....
